Mosi-Oa-Tunya Rottweilers is a research-driven Rottweiler breeding and development consortium dedicated to the preservation, advancement and ethical utilisation of the thoroughbred Rottweiler. Named after Victoria Falls — “The Smoke That Thunders” — our kennel embodies power, balance, discipline and natural authority.
We are a specialised research consortium focused on the training, showing and working development of high-quality Rottweilers. Our work integrates structured breeding, behavioural science, genetics and performance evaluation to produce dogs that are physically correct, mentally stable and purpose-driven.
The Rottweiler is not just a status symbol or backyard security system. It is a serious working dog that demands serious responsibility. Our philosophy reflects that.
We prioritise sound temperament, correct structure and working aptitude. No accidental litters, no convenience pairings, no chasing “fashion” dogs.
Dogs are developed through structured leadership, clear boundaries and consistent training — producing confident, obedient and mentally balanced Rottweilers.
We uphold international breed standards in show and focus on real working capability — calm under pressure, not unstable hype.
Our kennel is backed by peer-reviewed research, not just opinion. We actively study how environment, housing and training methods shape Rottweiler behaviour in Zimbabwe — and we build our programs around that data.
Together with veterinary and academic partners, our team authored a study titled “Behavioural Risk Profiling in Rottweilers (Canis lupus familiaris): A Survey-Based Analysis”, published in The Dyke (MSU Press, 2025). The research analysed owner-reported behaviour of Rottweilers across Harare, Bulawayo and the Midlands provinces.
The study examined 256 Rottweilers and looked at fear, aggression, disobedience, housing conditions and training methods. The findings confirmed what responsible breeders already know — fear and poor training practices are major risk factors, not the breed itself.
Mosi-Oa-Tunya Rottweilers is, at its core, a family-centric kennel. Our dogs are raised in a structured family environment, socialised with children, adults and everyday household activity.
Every dog that carries the Mosi-Oa-Tunya name represents our research, our philosophy and our reputation. We’re selective because we take both the dog and the breed seriously.
We assess your goals, environment and experience honestly. If a Rottweiler — or one of our dogs — is not the right fit, we’ll say so.
Dogs are matched to homes based on temperament, drive and purpose — family companion, personal protection, working or show potential.
We provide long-term guidance on structure, training and management. Ownership doesn’t end at handover — we stay engaged.
Share your goals, environment and expectations. We’ll advise honestly whether one of our Rottweilers is right for you — and what path makes sense for you, your family and the dog.
