Who we are

A specialised Rottweiler consortium.

We are a specialised research consortium focused on the training, showing and working development of high-quality Rottweilers. Our work integrates structured breeding, behavioural science, genetics and performance evaluation to produce dogs that are physically correct, mentally stable and purpose-driven.

  • Working dog first We preserve the Rottweiler’s original function as a guarding, protection and utility dog — strong, calm, responsive and reliable under genuine pressure.
  • Protector by instinct, companion by loyalty Our dogs are developed to be clear in the head — capable of firm, serious work when required, yet stable and trustworthy within the family environment.
  • Research-guided, not trend-driven We do not breed for numbers, hype or fashion. Every decision is shaped by data, temperament, structure and long-term breed preservation.

Our philosophy

Power with purpose. Strength under control.

The Rottweiler is not just a status symbol or backyard security system. It is a serious working dog that demands serious responsibility. Our philosophy reflects that.

Breeding

Structured, ethical breeding

We prioritise sound temperament, correct structure and working aptitude. No accidental litters, no convenience pairings, no chasing “fashion” dogs.

Training

Clarity, discipline & leadership

Dogs are developed through structured leadership, clear boundaries and consistent training — producing confident, obedient and mentally balanced Rottweilers.

Showing & work

Correct in type, serious in work

We uphold international breed standards in show and focus on real working capability — calm under pressure, not unstable hype.

Research & publications

Behavioural risk profiling in Rottweilers.

Our kennel is backed by peer-reviewed research, not just opinion. We actively study how environment, housing and training methods shape Rottweiler behaviour in Zimbabwe — and we build our programs around that data.

Survey-based analysis of Rottweilers in Zimbabwe

Together with veterinary and academic partners, our team authored a study titled “Behavioural Risk Profiling in Rottweilers (Canis lupus familiaris): A Survey-Based Analysis”, published in The Dyke (MSU Press, 2025). The research analysed owner-reported behaviour of Rottweilers across Harare, Bulawayo and the Midlands provinces.

The study examined 256 Rottweilers and looked at fear, aggression, disobedience, housing conditions and training methods. The findings confirmed what responsible breeders already know — fear and poor training practices are major risk factors, not the breed itself.

  • Fear-related behaviours and disobedience were the most commonly reported issues, especially in dogs with weak structure and leadership at home.
  • Dogs with frequent, structured training showed significantly lower rates of fear, aggression and instability compared to those raised with harsh, inconsistent methods.
  • Housing and environment mattered — dogs confined without proper stimulation were more likely to show anxiety and problem behaviour than those with structured outlets and purpose.
  • The research supports our emphasis on evidence-based training, proper housing and owner education as the real levers for safe, stable Rottweilers.
Family-centric

Safe with family, serious when it counts.

Mosi-Oa-Tunya Rottweilers is, at its core, a family-centric kennel. Our dogs are raised in a structured family environment, socialised with children, adults and everyday household activity.

  • Safe and trustworthy with family. We select and raise dogs to be clear, predictable and reliable in the home.
  • Protective without being reactive. A good Rottweiler does not live on edge. It reads the environment calmly and acts with purpose, not random reactivity.
  • Loyal without being unpredictable. Loyalty without stability is dangerous. We engineer for both — genetics, training and owner education all aligned.
  • This balance is not an accident. It comes from intentional upbringing, early exposure, correct pressure, structured outlets and consistent leadership across the dog’s life.
